How to start a Dropshipping Business in Uganda

How to start a Dropshipping Business in Uganda. Dropshipping is an order fulfillment method that does not require a business to keep products in stock.

Instead, the store sells the product and passes on the sales order to a third-party supplier, who then ships the order to the customer.

However, contrary to popular belief, dropshipping is not a get-rich-quick scheme.

Sure, it may seem like easy money — you sell other people’s goods and take a cut for yourself — but when you factor in all the drawbacks, obstacles, and day-to-day management, it’s far from easy and can be hard work.

If you approach it the right way, though, dropshipping can still help you build a successful business… but not as quickly as many hope.

How to start dropshipping in Uganda

So how can one start a dropshipping business here in Uganda?

1. Do Market Research

Before starting the dropshipping business, you need to carry out research about the availability of customers. Dropshipping works better as a means to an end, not the end itself.

Use dropshipping to mitigate the risk of trying out new products and use it for market research.

Rather than raising your inventory costs by packing your warehouse with an unpredictable product, test it out with a trial period using dropshipping.

More than just discovering if it sells or not, you’ll also have a better estimate of how much it sells for, giving you a more accurate number of what quantity to buy for your initial stock.

This is doubly important for trying out new product types, which always carry inherent risks.

For example, maybe you’ve been quite successful at selling dog products. Would that translate well for cat products, too?

That could be hit-or-miss, but you can always test the water by dropshipping a few products and see how it goes.

2. Choose Your Product

Dropshipping is like any business where you have to sell a product or service.

The second step in starting a dropshipping is to wisely choose the product. The commonly trending product types in dropshippi9ng are;

  • Knitted Dress.
  • Ring Lights.
  • Wireless Security Cameras.
  • iPhone USB Cable and Type C Fast Charger.
  • Ear Plugs.
  • Cordless Electric Drills.
  • Deep Tissue Massage Tool.
  • Couple Unisex T-shirts.

And many more.

So as a business owner, you need to take your time to select the appropriate products that your customers will like and order.

NOTE: You sould base your product picking on your reesrarch and not your desiress and wants.

3. Choose Your Supplier

In order to successfully run a dropshipping business in Uganda, it requires you to find a steady supplier who will supply you with what your customers order.

There are plenty of suppliers you can do business with but the majorly used suppliers are;

  • AliExpress
  • SaleHoo
  • Worldwide Brands
  • Megagoods
  • Doba
  • Wholesale Central
  • Wholesale 2B
  • Sunrise Wholesale
  • Inventory Source
  • National Dropshippers

And many more.

Just as selecting products carefully is crucial, so is the supplier selection process. You must deal with the right supplier in this business or risk losing customers.

You need to have terms set between you and your supplier because they are the ones that supply your customers with the required products.

4. Build an online store

You need a presence for your customers to reach you and see what you have for them. This will be your online shop.

Online shops are websites that act as shops where you can buy your products and directly and pay for the products on that website.
